Julie was born and raised in Mid Missouri, at the age of 17 she set her sights on a career in the fashion industry. She attended what is now known as Missouri State where she received a BS in Fashion Merchandising & Apparel Design, as well as a minor in business. During that time she was given the opportunity to study overseas in Paris, at the Paris American Academy, which fueled her passion for the industry. Julie furthered her education and love for the fashion world while studying in London, at the London Institute, where she also worked for Couture Jewelry Designer Lara Bohinc. Through her education and work experience, Julie was exposed to the Fashion Weeks in London and Paris where she styled for major fashion designers. There is where she quickly becoming a fashion insider.
Having just relocated from Miami where she is known as a staple on the fashion scene, rubbing elbows with the who’s who of fashion, and entertainment, Julie’s goal is to bring her experience in other fashion scenes to St. Louis. Julie has dabbled in designing men’s lounge wear for Perry Ellis, has even been called upon to consult for emerging magazines, and most recently was a MADE coach and stylist for MTV. Her proudest accomplishment to date has been handling the denim production for Gap Inc., where she oversaw all aspects of production from inception all the way to the distribution for denim in Latin America.
Julie’s vision is to help make St. Louis a Fashion and Art destination by offering a unique social shopping experience. Her focus is not simply selling clothes; it’s providing a lifestyle based on an exceptional shopping environment focused on Fashion, Music, Art and People.
Julie plans to continue the success at Byrd while adding cutting edge, fashion forward apparel and accessories that her clientele is comfortable in and can’t find in the St. Louis area. Julie is excited to get back to her roots and welcomes everyone to come and enjoy Byrd Style Lounge!
