How To Consign

Why Consign

  • I’ve never worn it or I’ve only worn it once
  • I have to have more space in my closet

The Process: If you think you may have pieces that we’re looking for simply place a call to Byrd at 314.721.0766 or e-mail Senior Curator at Julie@byrdstyle.com and we’ll discuss the amount and type of piece(s) you are offering to consign. We’ll then set up an appointment either in-store or at your home to review the pieces and see if they would be a good fit for our collection. Please note that our store is highly edited to ensure quality and integrity of the collection, so we don’t guarantee that all pieces reviewed will be approved for space on the showroom floor.

What if I’m Not Local: Many of our consignors come from all over the US so they are more than welcome to package up their perspective pieces and ship them to St Louis for review. After we edit the pieces, we will return the items we don’t feel would work well with the collection. Please call 314.721.0766 or email Senior Curator at Julie@byrdstyle.com for details.

What We Look For: We tell people to think of Byrd as a Fashion Art Gallery or Mini-Bal Harbor with a wider selection of brands and pieces. High End Hand Bags, Designer Dresses, and Sensational Shoes are always successful both in-store and online. We always look for stand out pieces that are unique and/or one of a kind.

Collection Turnover: Typically we keep a piece for 90 days (3 months) however if the piece is considered to be limited-edition and/or collectable we will likely hold on to it for a longer period of time which will be determined at the time the consignment agreement is signed. At the end of the 90 term you have the option to receive the piece back or donate to charity (see agreement)

Pricing: Pricing is jointly determined with the consignor and based on perceived market value and the piece’s demand. If the garment has tags priced 60% to 80% off original price. If the piece is an in-demand handbag, is in store now, or a highly sought after label the piece will be discounted at a lesser percentage.

Discounting Pieces: We never discount pieces or put a piece on sale, however we do ask the consignor to give us a 10-15% window when making a sale

Payment Process: We split the sale 50/50 and a check will be sent out at the end of each month for the prior month’s sale

 Hush Policy: We never disclose who our consignors or buyers are and have a very strict non-disclosure policy
